Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said India can stand out in the gloomy global economic situation if it continues with reforms and responsible economic planning.

The Finance Minister was addressing the World Economic Forum Annual meeting at Davos in Switzerland.

Expressing confidence that the country will prove its resilience, Jaitley said India must carry on the structural reforms to once again defy the global slowdown. He said that the oil and commodity price regime benefits India.

The finance minister is accompanied by a big delegation of Indian business leaders including members of the industry body CII.

Earlier, Jaitley met US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew at Davos at the World Economic Forum and discussed the upcoming Economic and Financial Partnership summit between the two countries.

Jaitley and Lew, who earlier in the day described India as the bright spot of the world economy and pressed for continuation of reform agenda in India, discussed recent macroeconomic developments as well as India's reform agenda.

Both the leaders also discussed ways to attract greater infrastructure investment to boost potential growth and support the global economy.

They also discussed priorities for the sixth annual US-India Economic and Financial Partnership, which is expected to take place in April in Washington.

Jaitley also met the Finance Ministers of Switzerland and Australia among a host of bilateral meetings with the government and business leaders at Davos on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum annual meeting.
