PM Modi to meet Israel President Reuven Rivlin on Day 2Updated on : 04-07-2017 09:36 PM
Day two of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to Israel will kick off with a meeting with Israel's President Reuven Rivlin on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Modi had said he will have "in-depth talks" with PM Netanyahu "on the full spectrum of our partnership and strengthening it in diverse fields for mutual benefit. Adding that they will also have the chance to discuss major common challenges like terrorism."

Several agreements are likely to be inked and the two leaders will also jointly address the press.

On an emotional note, PM Modi will meet 10-year-old Moshe Holtzberg, whose parents were killed in the 26/11 terror attack at the Chabad House in Mumbai when he was a toddler. Moshe's Indian nanny Sandra Samuel, who saved him from the carnage, will also be at the meeting. She continues to take care of Baby Moshe till date.

Prime Minister Modi will also visit the exhibit on Indian Jewry and the Cochin Jews synagogue at the Israel Museum. He will interact with 4,000 to 5,000 people of Indian origin at a community event at the Tel Aviv fairgrounds.

In an interview to an Israeli television channel, PM Modi said Israel has a special identity because of its innovative ways and this can prove beneficial to both countries.

Both premiers also penned a joint op-ed for a leading English daily spelling out the importance of this visit for relations between India and Israel spanning over 25 years. Boosting economic ties is also high on the agenda.

Both leaders wrote The "Make in India" initiative to strengthen the Indian manufacturing base has been enhanced by its Israeli "Make with India" counterpart. We are pleased that this vision is already bearing fruit.

The enthusiasm over Prime Minister Modi's visit was visible on the cover pages of most dailies in Israel.

India and Israel look at each other as natural partners. And the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister will certainly give a new direction to this very special relationship.
