UP CM Adityanath meets PM and other top brassUpdated on : 21-03-2017 02:12 PM
Yogi Adityanath met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Parliament today, post assuming office as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Adityanath, who will be in the national capital today, is scheduled to meet Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

The Chief Minister will then meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at his residence, after which he will call on President Pranab Mukherjee.

The Chief Minister will later in the day meet Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and party veteran Lal Krishna Advani.

A day after being sworn in as UP Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath met top state officials and outlined his govt's priorities to them.

He set the same benchmark for state officials as he did for ministers on Sunday asking them to declare their assets in 15 days.

He asked officials to implement BJP's Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra or party manifesto in letter and spirit and focus on maintenance of law and order, transparency in govt. recruitment, no political interference in police and district administration, encouraging investment and improving industrial growth.

Adityanath said that no political pressure will prevail over the working of either tehsils or police stations. Carrying forward with the BJP's election promise of doing away with corruption, the CM directed officials to declare their assets and income within 15 days.

Earlier on Sunday the state govt had issued the same order to its ministers.

He also issued strict instructions to work by the party's Sankalp Patra. Officials started off by taking a pledge for cleanliness, transparency in filling vacancies, increasing investment in the state and to focus on industrial development.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh and I&B Minister Venkaiah Naidu have both expressed confidence that under Yogi Adityanath's leadership Uttar Pradesh will walk the path of not just development but of a well-managed law and order machinery as well.

The opposition on its part has also expressed the hope that the state govt. will revamp the law and order situation and fulfill the promises the BJP had made the elections.

The only woman member in Yogi's cabinet Rita Bahuguna Joshi has said that the govt. will fulfill all its promises from waiving off farmer loans to all the points laid out in the Sankalp Patra.

All eyes are now on the distribution of portfolios among ministers and the cabinet's first meeting for it is in this meeting that decisions will be taken according to the Sankalp Patra.
