Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has stressed the need for amending the constitution to address the demands of Madhes centric parties.

Addressing the Parliament on Friday, Deuba reiterated his commitment to amend the constitution after second round of local elections. He assured that constitution amendment process will start after the completion of local polls and urged Madhesi parties to participate in the second phase of local elections scheduled for June 28.

Prime Minister Deuba also said that his government would move forward by giving appropriate respect to the aspirations of all sections of the society.

Meanwhile Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) has urged government to implement three point pact.

Speaking at Parliament, party leader Mahendra Rai Yadav said that his party has been supporting the government on every issue of the nation but the government has not yet implemented three-point agreement signed with them.

He further said that RJPN will participate in the second phase of local elections if government guarantees passage of revised constitution amendment bill, withdraws false cases against cadres of the agitating forces and increase number of local units in Madhes.

Yadav also said that RJPN’s demands should be taken as a national issue and should be resolved at the earliest.
