A plane belonging to a small South Sudanese airline crash-landed at an airport in the north-western town of Wau on Monday, injuring several passengers, witnesses said.

Forty-four passengers were on board the plane belonging to South Supreme Airlines, officials at the carrier told journalists.

One of the local aid workers near the scene of the crash said that no-one had died but several people had been injured.

James Dimo Deng, a journalist in Wau, said that about 17 or 18 people involved in the incident had been taken to hospital. Officials could not immediately be reached for further information.
